Mono audio CODECs, (D/A converter + A/D converter), are widely used in portable AV equipment and IoT devices. In addition to these applications, the needs for mono audio CODECs in the in-car communication modules and drive recorders are increasing. Asahi Kasei Microdevices Corporation, (AKM), has released an automotive low-power, 24-bit mono audio CODEC. The AK4637VN is the automotive version of the AK4637EN, satisfying in-car product qualities such as AEC-Q100. It achieves great cost/performance by integrating a voice processor, a microphone amplifier, and a regulator. This is ideal for processing blocks of sound in the in-car communication modules and drive recorders.
This device integrates a low-noise/low-power microphone amplifier and microphone power supply to enable high quality, realistic recoding performance. This is achieved with a, “Wind Noise Reduction Filter”, and, “5-band Notch Filter”, that allows for removal of specific system tones/noises and a, “Digital Automatic Level Control (ALC) Circuit”, to optimize recording levels.
The integrated mono speaker amplifier is capable of 1W output power making the AK4637VN ideal for the sound output block of drive recorders.
The AK4637VN achieves very low-power consumption: 6.5mW in mono recording mode and 11.6mW in speaker playback mode.
