"Klaran-AKR" is the first inline water disinfector that integrates, "KlaranTM", a UVC LED for disinfection manufactured and sold by Crystal IS, Inc. (Headquarters: New York State, CEO: Larry Felton), a group company of Asahi Kasei Corporation. "KlaranTM", uses an aluminum nitride substrate achieving long life with high optical output power.
Asahi Kasei has developed a compact and lightweight inline flow water disinfection unit with highly reliable disinfection performance using their original design technology to modularize the "KlaranTM". This product has already proven to exhibit disinfection performance of 99.9% or more, (against Escherichia coli), in an evaluation test by the certification body enabling water disinfection onsite (point of use *1) such as for water dispensers, water filtration systems and medical institutions.

*1 Point of Use
Water purification device used for individual faucets for the purpose of reducing pollutants in drinking water. This also means, "scenes", where water that was actually purified, is used. For example, in the case of drinking water it means a scene or a faucet actually used by people. In the case of medical water it is a scene to use water for mouth rinsing, catheter, or indicating actual exit of water.

*2 Restriction on Hazardous Substances
Directive on restriction on the use of specified hazardous substances contained in electrical and electronic equipment. It is aimed to minimize the danger to the environment and human health at all stages from production to disposal by developing legal provisions on hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment. The six substances restricted in use are lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyl (PBB), and polybrominated diphenyl, (PBDE).
