These devices are suitable for ETC (Electronic Toll Collection) and RKE (Remote Keyless Entry) systems, which are widely used in automotive applications.

AKM has the line-up of the devices that feature high performance with low power consumption.

Remote Keyless Entry

Small size with long battery life are important features for automobile keyless entry systems.  A microcontroller-less system can be designed with the AK3713 since it incorporates peripheral circuits including an EEPROM.  This also accomplishes low power consumption, small PCB area and a reduction of the BOM size.  General remote-control systems can be designed by combining the AK3701 and a receiver IC.

The AK3701 is suitable for the applications; automotive RKE systems for multi-channel.

The AK3701 achieves low power consumption adopting advanced architecture by direct conversion.  Furthermore, achieves both excellent receiver sensitivity and high ability to reject interference signal operating hopping channel and digital filter.

AK3713

The AK3713 is suitable for the applications; automotive RKE systems.  The AK3713 is one-chip solution without MPU, no need for programming and high flexibility.  The AK3713 achieves low power consumption and high output efficiency.  Furthermore, achieves small drift of output power without depending on the cell battery voltage and temperature.

● Integrated EEPROM eliminates the need for microcontroller
The user can design a system without an external microcontroller by programming the integrated EEPROM.  Various messages can be transmitted using different combinations of the four switches.

● Low Current Consumption
The AK3713 contributes to longer battery life for battery-driven applications due to low stand-by current of 15nA (typ.) and low operating current of 11mA (typ.).

● Wide Output Power Range
Optimal output power range can be selected from -4dBm to +8dBm, (0.5dB steps), in accordance with the actual use case.  For example, current consumption is reduced when output power decreases and longer communication distance is achieved when output power increases.

● High Security with the AES-128 and Rolling Counter Process
High message transmission security is achieved via AES-128 encryption.  The receiver can identify the corresponding AK3713 via rolling counter values programmed in the EEPROM.

● Adaptable to a Variety of Wireless Systems
The AK3713 meets various system needs since Manchester / Bi-phase encoding and FSK / ASK modulation are available.

AK1553

The ministry of Land, Transport and Tourism of Japan has announced that accidents and traffic jam information as well as the best time route assist service will be provided in the ETC 2.0* system.  This system is expected to be expanding as a part of ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) for a safe and ecological car society.

* ETC 2.0 is the world first driver supporting service via a vehicle infrastructure integration promoted by the ministry of Land, Transport and Tourism of Japan.

AKM has developed the AK1553 series RF transceivers for ETC systems using AKM's integration technique and design knowledge of radio frequency analog circuits.  The AK1553 and AK1553E have optimized characteristics for ETC products while needing less external parts because of its integrated RF amplifiers.  The AK1553 for ETC 2.0 and the AK1553E for ETC 1.0 systems allow system designers to support either ECT system.

● Optimized for OBUs (On-Board-Unit) that are ARIB STD-T75 compliant
The AK1553/AK1553E has the sufficient performance for OBUs that satisfy ARIB STD-T75 standard characteristics.

● Integrated Power Amplifier (PA) and Low Noise Amplifier (LNA)
The AK1553/AK1553E integrates a +14dBm output amplifier and an amplifier with -70dBm receiving sensitivity therefore external PA and LNA are not required in the system.  Both transmission output power and receiving sensitivity can be adjusted, realizing to support various devices.

● Connectable to A Base-band LSI via Digital Interface
The AK1553/AK1553E can be connected with a baseband LSI via digital interface.  Integrated ASK/QPSK modem of the AK1553/AK1553E eliminates modulation and demodulation processes in the baseband LSI so that an easy evaluation for system performance is available.

The proliferation of cars in China has had an increasing impact on traffic congestion and air pollution.
The AK1555 has been optimized for Chinese ETC terminals, and has reduced the need for external components by integrating an amplifier. This integration also allows for a wider variety of potential ETC terminal installations.

● Compatible with Chinese ETC standard GBT 20851-2007
The AK1555’s RF transmit power and receive sensitivity specifications meet the GBT 20851-2007 standard.

● Integrated power amplifier (PA) and low noise amplifier (LNA)
With the integration of over +10dBm transmit power and -75dBm (typ.) receive sensitivity amplifiers, external PAs and LNAs are eliminated.
The transmit output and receive sensitivity can be adjusted via configuration register, so the AK1555 can be used for both built-in antenna ETC and antenna-separated ETC.

● High suppression ratio characteristics to co-channel and adjacent channel waves
In Chinese ETC communication, the suppression ratio characteristics of RF transceiver are an important benchmark because the co-channel and adjacent channel signals act as disturbances to the communication channel.
The AK1555 has excellent characteristics, with a co-channel suppression ratio of 8dB (typ.) and adjacent channel suppression ratio of 8dB (typ).
