Description

Asahi Kasei Microdevices Corporation, (AKM), has developed a short-range infrared sensor IC, the AK9754AE, with a built-in Human Approach Detection algorithm. The AK9754AE consumes less power because of the built-in algorithm compared to existing systems that need external signal processing. It is suitable for battery-powered applications.
The AK9754AE integrates AKM’s original InSb quantum IR sensor element, an analog front end circuit for converting the current output of the element to voltage, a dedicated thermometer for measuring the element temperature, a 16-bit A / D converter, (ADC), an I²C interface, and an interrupt output pin.

Key Features

  • Built-in proximity detection algorithm
Since this algorithm does not require signal processing with a microprocessor or the like, it enables low-power operation compared to existing systems and can be battery-powered.

Applications

  • Human Sensing, etc.
