About AKM
We, Asahi Kasei Microdevices offer a variety of advanced sensing devices based on compound semiconductor technology and sophisticated IC products featuring analog/digital mixed-signal technology.
AKM stands for Asahi Kasei Microdevices Corporation.
Magnetic sensors
Hall elements are high-performance magnetic sensors used for control of brushless motors in optical disc drives and air conditioner fans, for image-stabilization mechanisms in digital cameras and smartphones, as well as many other areas.
Hall ICs, comprising a combination of Hall elements and signal processing circuits, are used for mobile phone open/close detection switches and automobile power windows.
Utilizing the thin-film compound semiconductor technology gained through experience in magnetic sensors, we are developing infrared (IR) sensors with smaller size for an expanding range of applications.
Gas Sensors
NDIR gas sensors featuring high precision, low power consumption, high reliability, and a small package. Various solutions such as CO2 sensors, flammable gas sensors, and alcohol sensors are provided in accordance with customer needs. They contribute to energy saving in homes and vehicles, and contribute to the safety by detecting refrigerant leaks and preventing drunk driving.
Semiconductors
Our advanced mixed-signal LSIs feature low power consumption, high speed, and high precision. Mixed-signal LSIs play an essential role in bridging the gap between the analog information of the natural world and the digital information of electronic systems.
Applications range from mobile communications including smartphones to automobiles, industrial equipment, and infrastructural equipment.
The electronic compass, an advanced product which combines magnetic sensors and LSIs in a single device, finds widespread use in smartphones and other portable devices.
Asahi Kasei Microdevices (AKM) operates an electronic components business as a member of the Asahi Kasei Group's material sector. AKM provides customers with unique products by combining the compound semiconductor technology mainly used for magnetic sensors with the ASIC/analog circuit technology based on silicon semiconductors.
In recent years, anticipating the needs of the IoT era, we are proposing sensing solutions incorporating software technology and invisible optics solutions that utilize compound material technology.
Our products and solutions with these features are expanded over a wide range of fields, including mobile communication devices and consumer products as well as automotive electronics devices, household equipment, and industrial equipment.
