What makes AKM different?

AKM's Bluetooth® Low Energy transmission ICs are selected for applications requiring large volumes of beacon tags, such as Bluetooth® asset tracking tags due to the following reasons

Bluetooth® Low Energy transmission IC

Three reasons what makes AKM different?

Its low power consumption enables long-term operation of batteries and the creation of a battery-free system

Contributes to battery life especially in applications with long transmission intervals/small battery capacity.

In applications with advertising transmissions periodically, such as Bluetooth® beacons, the standby power during non-transmission significantly affects the overall power consumption. The AK1595A and AK1595B is equipped with a low-power consumption timer that operates in 0.5 uA to reduce power consumption, enabling the use of small, thin batteries and the construction of battery-free systems.

Its ultra-low power consumption from power-on to advertising transmission makes it suitable for energy harvesting applications.

A typical Bluetooth® SoC (System on a chip) consumes a lot of power to load the program memory at startup and takes longer to boot. AK1595A and AK1595B realizes its unique protocol stacks with hardware without installing any memory, thereby achieving low power consumption/high-speed startup for the applications of frequent power ON/OFF.

Reduced total cost of products including peripheral parts

Compact and low-cost due to its specialization in the transmission function only.

Easy PCB designing with fewer external elements.

  • Less external elements: only 7 capacitors, 2 inductors, 1 crystal resonator
  • Simple PCB routing : 1 layer (AK1595A or AK1595B + MCU), 2 layers (AK1595A or AK1595B  + MCU + SENSOR)
Reduced total cost of products including peripheral parts

Easy to use with no programming required

Bluetooth® Beacon transmission enabled in only 2 steps.

STEP1: Reset.
STEP2: Register setting via UART or I²C interface.

The AK1595A and AK1595B can achieve Bluetooth® beacon transmission easily without the complicated and proprietary programming required by typical Bluetooth® SoC as it is equipped, in the form of hardware, with the communication protocol that supports advertising transmission of Bluetooth® Low Energy. It can be developed simply by accessing registers with your familiar micro controller.
