AKM releases to production the new premium D/A converters (DACs) AK4497S and AK4498EX

Overview
Asahi Kasei Microdevices Corporation (AKM) has released to production the AK4497S, an enhanced premium D/A converter (DAC) featuring our most refined low-noise technology, and the AK4498EX, the latest addition to our series of two-chip DAC solutions which fully partition digital circuitry from analog.
These new products were exhibited at HIGH END Munich 2025, where they were very positively received by customers and attendees alike. These devices fully demonstrate the VELVET SOUNDTM concept of providing an experience that makes you feel "as if you were there."
Key Features
AK4497S: Premium Stereo DAC
The AK4497S is a Premium Stereo VELVET SOUNDTM DAC featuring superior performance at 129dB SNR and -117dB THD+N, as well as advanced switched capacitor filter voltage output technology. This device supports up to 768kHz, 32-bit PCM and DSD512, making it possible to accurately reproduce the information-rich, unaltered data of high-resolution audio sources. The AK4497S also has six different digital filters for flexible sound tuning options across a wide range of applications.
The AK4497S meets automotive quality standards.
AK4498EX: Partitioned Premium Stereo DAC
Like the AK4497S, the AK4498EX is a Premium Stereo VELVET SOUNDTM DAC featuring superior performance at 129dB SNR and -117dB THD+N, as well as advanced switched capacitor filter voltage output technology.
AKM's innovative design partitions the DAC solution across two chips in order to improve noise isolation and, in so doing, to deliver an additional layer of depth to the listening experience. The previously released AK4191 is the digital portion, comprising the digital filter and modulator. A multi-bit interface connects it to the AK4498EX, the analog portion of the system. When paired, this solution provides outstanding analog conversion ideal for reproducing ultra-high-resolution audio sources up to 1536kHz, 64-bit PCM and DSD1024.
