New Product: Next-generation current sensor for automotive OBC applications, supporting high-current measurement of several hundred amperes
AKM has started mass production of the CZ3K series current sensors, which are highly compatible with single-stage topologies and contribute to the miniaturization and improved efficiency of on-board chargers (OBCs).
At PCIM Europe 2026, AKM will present a demonstrator that visualizes high-speed triangular wave current measurement simulating the steep current change rates (dI/dt) required in systems using SiC and GaN power devices.
In addition, through joint technical validation with Silicon Austria Labs (SAL), AKM has developed an eFuse system that addresses the challenges of protection systems relying on conventional mechanical fuses. Along with these results, AKM will introduce a concept of eFuse technology aimed at significantly improving safety and reducing system cost in applications such as automotive OBCs.

New Product: Coreless current sensor capable of handling large currents, accelerating downsizing of traction inverters
EV power electronics systems—including traction inverters, DC/DC converters, and battery management systems (BMS)—face numerous challenges, such as performance enhancement and miniaturization.
To address these challenges, AKM has developed the EZ232L series, an external conductor type coreless current sensor capable of handling large currents of several hundred amperes or more. Mass production is scheduled to begin soon. Compared to conventional cored type current sensors, it maintains equivalent key characteristics while enabling significant downsizing of systems such as traction inverters.
At PCIM Europe 2026, AKM will also showcase a module-type coreless current sensor solution that combines this product with Asahi Kasei’s heat-resistant and high-strength resin. This solution contributes to greater design flexibility and simplifies compact and high-voltage-resistant system design.

Coreless current sensor with ΣΔ digital output enabling low-heat operation and system miniaturization
AKM will demonstrate a comparison of heat generation between the CQ36 series, a coreless current sensor with ΣΔ digital output, and conventional shunt resistors.
The CQ36 series integrates the functions of a “shunt resistor + isolated ADC” into a single device. This innovative current sensor reduces heat generation to approximately one-tenth compared with conventional solutions. In addition, it eliminates the need for an isolated power supply on the primary side, significantly reducing component count and enabling system miniaturization.
With resolution comparable to that of shunt resistors, the CQ36 series improves efficiency while maintaining precise control performance in applications such as AC servo motors and robotics, contributing to smaller and more efficient systems.
