Applications

Battery-less wireless and
more flexibility in the power generator that can be connected

Energy Harvesting

The energy harvesting IC of Asahi Kasei Microdevices Corporation (AKM) can be used in a variety of applications.

By using the step-up DC/DC converters of AKM for building power supply circuits, it is possible not only to eliminate the need for coin-cell batteries and power cables, but also to harvest even small amounts of energy. This enhances the flexibility of the connectivity of power generator.

For example, IoT devices can be miniaturized using smaller devices than coin-cell batteries, or IoT devices with sealing-like shapes can be attached to walls or curved surfaces using thin lightweight devices.

Application Case 1

Liquid sensing device that can be installed on a curved surface

AKM's step-up DC/DC converter AP4470 is used for liquid-sensing devices that are easy to install on curved surfaces.

The device can be easily installed on long curved objects such as pipes, and the chemical energy of the liquid itself is used to generate electricity. As the sensor current does not flow while there is no liquid, it can be used for a long period of time.

Subminiature asset-monitoring tags

AP4470L is used in small solar beacons that operate with indoor lights.

Because dry batteries and coin batteries are not used, a compact and light beacon is realized.

Environmental power generation beacon kits now available

It is possible to check whether it is available for power supply simply by connecting to the target power generator.

This kit can be easily demonstrated by combining it with a power generation element. The generated power can be used to activate the Bluetooth® Low Energy IC. A data receiving application (Android app) is also included.

If you wish to have a radio-enabled assessment kit, please contact the following.
