Flammable gas sensor made available by Senseair, featuring superior safety by eliminating ignition risks,
long life without the need for maintenance, ultra-low power consumption, and high accuracy
Products
Senseair, a group company of Asahi Kasei Microdevices (AKM), has developed an NDIR-type combustible gas sensor with excellent safety and gas selectivity. Despite its compact size, it achieves high accuracy and provides long-term maintenance-free operation, thanks to proprietary compensation technology.
This sensor is suitable for detecting refrigerant gas leaks such as R32, which requires both a high safety and high accuracy in HVAC applications as well as various types of combustible gases.
R32, a refrigerant which is widely used in air conditioners, is mildly flammable, and a large amount of R32 is used in large commercial HVAC units, creating ignition risks. R290 (propane), which is expected to become more common, is even more flammable, and even small leaks can cause fires or explosions. As a result, more products are incorporating sensors that detect refrigerant leaks. However, traditional sensors present challenges, including the risk of the sensor itself becoming an ignition source.
To address these issues, Senseair, a group company of Asahi Kasei Microdevices (AKM), has developed a new sensor for combustible refrigerants such as R32, R290, and R454 A/B/C.
