AgeTech Solutions enabled by 60GHz Millimeter-wave radar
Improve safety and comfort for seniors aging-in-place and in care homes with real-time AgeTech solutions, including real-time fall detection, presence detection, location tracking, and more.
Utilizing AKM's high-resolution 60GHz millimeter-wave transceiver IC and Pontosense’s artificial intelligence (AI) integrated software, these wireless AgeTech solutions can help to alleviate the necessity for wearables and cameras, contributing to safer living and peace of mind.
Contactless Temperature Sensing
AKM's quantum infrared temperature sensor enables accurate measurements in real-time. The tiny package size (<1.8mm2) and current consumption as low as 10μA makes it ideal for expanding the capabilities of wearables such as smart watches.
These capabilities are featured in our wristband concept demo, which measures skin temperature.
Energy Harvesting Solutions for Wearables
AKM's step-up DC/DC converters can boost millivolt-level power sources up to useful voltages, making it possible to use environmental energies such as light, water, or body heat as power sources for IoT sensor nodes.
Our energy harvesting demo pairs a thermoelectric generator with the AP4473 in order to generate power from body heat. This approach is well-suited for creating battery-free health tech products.
Contactless Stethoscope using Millimeter-wave radar
Stethoscopes are widely used in initial medical examinations, but the method of listening to faint sounds via direct physical contact has remained unchanged for a long time. AKM utilized its years of expertise in millimeter-wave technology to develop touchless stethoscope solutions that allow for new approaches, such as collecting vital signs while the patient is fully clothed. AKM showcased concept demo features this new approach.

Child Presence Detection (CPD) using 60GHz Millimeter-wave radar

This security solution can wirelessly detect children left behind in cars within seconds, aiming to exceed current vehicle regulations and standards for child presence detection (CPD) globally.

The way we spend time in car cabins is evolving, and this has created a demand for new audio experiences and enhanced entertainment. At CES®, we will introduce an immersive audio experience in our demo car, combining high-quality audio ICs, software, and tuning techniques.
Flexible Audio designs with Audio & Voice DSP
AKM's latest audio DSPs - AK7017, AK7018, and AK7709 - are equipped with HiFi 4 CPUs and capable of up to 152 input/output channels. This family of devices supports DSP Concepts' Audio Weaver, a leading platform for audio software development, in order to enable quick, scalable application development.
Gas Sensing Solutions for Automobiles
AKM's in-car demonstration features our CO2 sensors, which in addition to managing air quality in the cabin, can enhance HVAC efficiency, leading to longer driving ranges. Our touch-fee alcohol sensors, which do not require a mouthpiece, are likewise crucial for driver safety.
On-Board Charger Form Factor Reduction

Bluetooth® Low Energy Transmitter IC for Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)
The adoption of EVs has led to changes in vehicle control systems, which created demand for wireless communications for various sensors and indicators.
AKM's Bluetooth Low Energy® transmit-only device may be easily added to TPMS systems, eliminating the need for additional RF radios.
