AKM's Current Sensor

As part of its commitment to environmental protection, the Asahi Kasei Group is making efforts to reduce its greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, with a target of achieving over a twofold reduction in GHG contribution by 2030 as compared to the 2020 baseline.  Asahi Kasei Microdevices' (AKM) "Currentier" series of coreless current sensors has been recognized as a product line contributing to GHG reduction within the group's electronic components sector.

Packaged air conditioners significantly contribute to the emission of greenhouse gases. Replacing non-inverter air conditioners with energy-efficient inverter air conditioners featuring brushless DC motors allows for significantly lower power consumption, and thus reduces CO₂ emissions substantially.

AKM's "Currentier" coreless current sensor's fast response time makes it well-suited for use in brushless DC motorization and inversion, achieving energy savings and reduced GHG emission through improved efficiency and precise operational control.

The implementation of AKM's Currentier products in packaged air conditioners contributes to an annual reduction in power consumption of approximately 330 MWh1, which  corresponds to a reduction in CO₂ emissions of around 1.7 million tons2 over the operational lifespan of packaged air conditioners.

AKM and its Currentier devices play pivotal roles as supporters of a sustainable future, with plans to extend their contributions to  industrial equipment and electric vehicles.
