Current Sensors
AI adoption is driving a rapid increase in data center power demand. Conventional AC power distribution systems are facing growing challenges in efficiency, scalability, and fault handling. As a result, the industry is moving from low-voltage AC distribution toward high-voltage direct current (HVDC) distribution.
Along with this transition, new architectures such as solid-state circuit breakers (SSCBs) and solid-state transformers (SSTs) are being developed. Current sensing is one of the key technologies supporting these systems. In SSCBs in particular, current sensors are becoming increasingly important not merely as monitoring components, but as core devices that enable fast protection.
This document explains current sensors for SSCBs.
Using high-bandwidth, high-accuracy current sensing, it presents an approach to reliable fault protection and high accuracy predictive maintenance for SSCBs.
